Street Entertainment
To add to the spectacle, musicians and entertainers will be performing on the streets of the town and in the marquees adding to the vibrant pageantry.

Sheltering from any seasonal showers will be several musical acts. Fiddlebox are a fun and exciting accordian and fiddle duo playing a variety of folksy numbers. The Chrysland Guitar Duo play a combination of classical, pop and jazz arrangements.
As well as the music there will be Peter Hopkins, a roving magician with tricks to entertain kids and adults alike (www.kids-magic-show.co.uk). Also our clown will be meandering the streets for juggling and balloon bending performances.
Face painting is available outside the Town Hall free of charge.
Champagne Marquee
Kindly sponsored by Spar, for those who want to add a bit of sophisticated sparkle to their weekend, this ever popular venueto the rear of Lloyds TSB Bank, is the place to go. Serving the best bubbles Spar has to offer, the team from Bar 44 also serve a delicious range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. The Spar Champagne Marquee buzzes throughout the weekend with great live entertainment whilst you drink and relax. Entry is free of charge.

Real Ale Festival
Throughout the Festival weekend, The Vale of Glamorgan Inn are holding a Real Ale Festival with a vast range of real ales, lagers and ciders. The event is in its sixth year and continues to go from strength to strength with marquees at the back of the pub to accommodate the thirsty customers. Live music and food also on offer.

Cider Festival
The Duke of Wellington Inn again host the annual Cider Festival with an extensive range of cider and perry on offer to taste and enjoy. Food and music also on offer.

The Living Cafe
David Lawal will again be holding a varied day of entertainment to suit all tastes. Accompany “the best coffee in Cowbridge” with a delicious cake or perhaps something more substantial. David’s Taste Test will again be on offer – a vegetarian and meaty treat for you to guess the ingredients of. Pop in and have a go.

Craft Fayre
The Old Wool Barn’s collection of professional artists will again b showing off their work in their workshops. CraftfolK are holding a craft fayre across the road at Vale Forge with over 35 exhibitors including ceramics, metalwork and wood as well as some more unusual crats on show. A great opportunity to start Xmas shopping.

Eat Well, Live Well
As part of the Festival weekend, Milestone Activities and Barefoot Studio will be hosting a Wellbeing Marquee over the two days. The theme is Eat Well, Live Well – information and products to improve your health. Stalls have included Fairtrade produce, skin care, handmade products and complementary therapies.

Childrens Entertainment
New to the festival is the “Kids’ Zone” in the Lesser Town Hall, where children of all ages can take part in some lovely crafts and have something to take away with them. These activities will hold a nominal charge to cover materials.

Jewellery and Card Making (www.greenboxcards.co.uk)
Former teacher Elaine Cadenne, will be helping kids create cards for every season. An array of materials will be on offer for children to design and make unique cards.
Since branching into jewellery Elaine has developed fun ways of involving children in this stunning and rewarding craft. With a variety of beads and wire your children can create something colourful and beautiful either for themselves or a gift.
Elaine and some keen volunteers will also have some other exciting and fun opportunities for kids of all ages to get creative so drop in and you’re sure to find an activity that takes you fancy.

Waxpod will be offering wax hand replica casts in a variety of fabulous colours. This tactile craft leaves you with a unique model of your hand using some interesting processes.
Face Painting and Clowning
Dandy Doodles will be offering professional face painting free of charge. Whether your little one is a pirate or princess in the making, Emma will have something to please them. Visit her in her gazebo outside the Town Hall.
A balloon bending clown will be roaming the town. Just stop him and ask for your favourite flower, dog, or umbrella (sorry, I mean parasol!)

Demos & Talks
There are many fascinating talks and demos to attend over the weekend – all free of charge. Discussions including tasting sessions are available by attending Ballantynes’ Drinks Talks – held on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons upstairs in the Town Hall.
TV personality, Frances Donovan presents demonstrations by the finest local chefs each day in the Town Hall Car Park where styles of international cuisine are shown throughout the weekend in the Welsh Assembly Government Exhibition Trailer.

River View is a truly family affair – owned by Wing Chan with his uncle Wai as Head Chef.
Since opening over two years ago, this buzzy restaurant has offered authentic delicious cuisine from across China. Wai trained at one of China’s top hotels where he later became Head Chef before moving to the UK and supporting this family venture.(www.riverview668.co.uk)

Simon Majumdar, author of ‘Eat My Globe’
Simon will be recreating his Bengali grandmother’s Life Saving Dahl (LSD) whilst regaling the audience with tales from his book ‘Eat My Globe’.

From Newport and Calcutta stock, Simon Majumdar returns to South Wales to tell amazing tales from his year-long quest to “go everywhere and eat everything”. A true culinary obsessive, Simon’s pursuit of the perfect taste experience led him to eat mutton kebab rolls in Mumbai (delicious), dog in china (not so good), but his family’s own recipes can be created anywhere so come and see how.

Trealy Farm Charcuterie, Monmouthshire
Trealy founders will be discussing making charcuterie in Wales including meat curing techniques and recipes.

This award winning artisan charcuterie in the heart of Monmouthshire combines the latest technology with traditional methods from France, Germany, Italy and Spain and uses only free range meats without artificial colours or flavours. Trealy Charcuterie maintain the traits of authentic artisan charcuterie whilst delivering a consistent and delicious product.

Proprietor Tim Marriott & Head Chef, The Market Place, Cowbridge
Proprietor Tim Marriot and his Head Chef are both highly experienced chefs with wide backgrounds and careers in many respected eateries across Europe. Since taking over a year ago, the team at The Market Place has received rave reviews across the board including the only 5* rating in South Wales from the Metro.
The chefs will combine seasonal and local produce to create contemporary British dishes.

Massimo Bishop Scotti, Zucchero Pâtisserie
This year Massimo will pull out all the stops to make his stunning Amedei Toscano dark chocolate mousse Millefogli. Whilst creating he will speak of the full chocolate process from harvesting to consuming.
Born in Capri, Massimo trained in advanced pâtisserie and confectionery in London and went on to work in some of the
UK’s best eateries including The Aubergine for Gordon Ramsay. He has worked with M&S to develop dessert recipes and now has his own award winning pâtisserie business as well as Zucchero Pâtisserie School here in the Vale.

John will be cooking cheap and easy meals, ideal for those just leaving home for college and novice cooks on a budget.

Born in Manchester, John moved to South Wales and trained at Bridgend College before working as Sous Chef at The Coed-Y-Mwstwr. In 2001 he was a finalist in the Welsh Chef of the Year and John has been Head Chef at Oscars since opening in 2004.

Ray Newberry, UWIC
Ray has been teaching the science and technology of confectionery at UWIC for 20 years. His chocolate workshop has been delivered on many occasions in association with UWIC’s Widening Access, First Campus and at Festivals such as this.

The aim is to take a topic that people of all ages relate to and introduce the science and technology behind it. The workshop introduces school children to the discipline of Food Science and Technology and the jobs that are linked to this discipline. An added incentive for those who attend the workshop is that they also get to taste some great chocolate.

1300hr Colin Hingston, Tipsy Fruit Gins

Based in Worcestershire, Colin is a regular exhibitor at Cowbridge and brings his expertise on fruit wines and gins – from growing to picking to drinking! The business started 11 years ago as they could not sell the farm’s damsons. Now they are one of the only farms replanting damson trees and have recently put their sloe gin into full production.
1415hr Richard Ballantyne, Ballantynes Wine Merchants
Richard Ballantyne is the wine buyer for Ballantynes Wine Merchants in Cardiff. Ballantynes was started in Cowbridge in 1978, moving to Cathedral Road in Pontcanna in 2002. Ballantynes specialises in finding wines which speak about where they come from.

The range is wide and varied carrying a selection of 600 wines from 12 countries at all price levels. This year Richard will give a talk on the Wines of New Zealand.

Representatives from the Vale of Glamorgan’s Twin Town of Rheinfelden in Germany are visiting and will be holding several demonstrations of their trade. There will also be an opportunity to view and purchase some of their wares.

1400hr Tricia Hill, Hendrewennol Fruit Garden
Tricia’s family have grown fruit in the Vale for over 30 years. A thriving fruit farm and pick-your-own destination, Hendrewennol now produce their own smoothie range and other products from their delicious fruit. Tricia will be experimenting with flavours and may give the audience a chance to create their own special smoothie.

Come and meet the new team at Farthings who will be demonstrating some of their new menu. With a great reputation for food, at Woods Brasserie, Cardiff Bay and The New Conway, Pontcanna (recently Michelin accredited), the addition of Farthings and Farthings Deli will take this group to even greater heights
1500hr Denis Gwatkin, Gwatkin Cider and Perry, Herefordshire
The Gwatkin family have produced award winning cider and perry at their farm for many years and Denis will be sharing his knowledge at Cowbridge. Although no longer pressed by a horse drawn chase, traditional methods and oak barrels are used to give subtle character to each batch.
